Theodore Boone, Kid Lawyer Summary

Theodore Boone, Kid Lawyer, is the story about an 8th grader, Theodore Boone.  Both of his parents are lawyers.  His mother is a divorce lawyer and his father is a real estate lawyer.  Theo is an only child.  He loves the law and is trying to decide whether he wants to be a lawyer or a judge.  Theo knows just about everyone in his town, Strattenburg, who is involved in the law…police, lawyers, court clerks, court stenographers, judges, etc.  Students from his school know that Theo is knowledgeable about the law, and they ask him for his legal advice and help when they need it.
Life has just gotten very exciting for Theo because his town is about to have a big murder trial.  Theo is really excited about the trial.  He follows the trial and it looks like the husband is going to get away with murdering his wife until Theo gets caught right in the middle of a dilemma.  One student he tutors, Julio, tell Theo that his illegal immigrant cousin might have important information that can change the outcome of the trial.  The cousin doesn’t want to come forward because he is in the country illegally.  At the last moment, Theo, his family, and the cousin save the day and let the judge know about the evidence they have.
The story moves along at a fast pace and keeps your interest the whole way.

John Grisham

Theodore Boone, Kid Lawyer, was a good book.  I like the author’s style of writing.  The book was a very easy read.  It is really written for readers as young as 8.  The best part about the book was that the author explained a lot about the court process and different legal situations.  I am sure he gets into even more depth in his adult novels.  I highly recommend this author, especially if you like reading about drama and suspense in connection with the legal system.  To help you out, I have a list of the author’s works and the dates they were published:
